General FAQs

Where do you ship to?

We currently ship to the contiguous 48 United States. Unfortunately, we cannot ship to Alaska or Hawaii, US territories, overseas, or to P.O. boxes.

What do you charge for shipping?

We have to ship all our orders to arrive in no more than 3 days, and orders are packaged with insulated liners and ice packs. As such, shipping ranges from $10 to $30, depending on your location in the US. We strive to make shipping as cheap as possible for our customers, and are always researching how to make it more affordable for you!

When will I get my shipment?

Any orders placed after Monday at 12pm EST will be processed and shipped the following week. We ship out orders on Mondays and Tuesdays for delivery by Friday (barring holidays, read further for more info on that). For customers outside of the immediate area, we make every attempt to ship your orders out via FedEx Express on Mondays, and ship out via FedEx Ground on Tuesdays for customers inside Vermont. This is to ensure timely delivery and to preserve the quality of your order. The last thing we want is for your order to get stuck in a hot warehouse over the weekend, especially in the summer!

Regarding Holidays - if Monday falls on a federal holiday in which our shipper is closed, we will ship out orders planned for that Monday on Tuesday instead. If Tuesday falls on a federal holiday, those orders will be shipped out the following Monday.

What is your Return Policy?

If you’re not happy, neither are we. If you have encountered a problem with your order, please contact us and we’ll work with you to make it right! We will do our level best to replace any order rendered damaged by FedEx-related delays.

Unfortunately, we cannot take responsibility for spoiled or damaged products resulting from incorrect delivery addresses, unopened boxes, or gifts to people who were unable to receive them or out of town. If you’re shipping to someone as a gift, please make sure they can receive it in time!

How do you pack my order?

We take great care in making sure your order is packed to arrive safely, so we use insulated shippers with ice packs and crinkle paper to give you a box that not only looks good, but keeps your cheeses and goods in tip-top shape.

Help! Something is wrong with my order!

If something isn’t right with your order, be it a missing item, a damaged/missing order, or a wrong item, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and details of the issue, and we’ll resolve it ASAP!

My ice packs have melted!

That’s perfectly normal! As long as your cheese is still cool to the touch there is nothing to worry about.

Cheese Questions

Hey! What’s the deal with raw milk cheese?

To quote a piece from Di Bruno Bros. House of Cheese: A Guide to Wedges, Recipes, and Pairings by Tenaya Darlington, “making a cheese with pasteurized milk is like trying to bake a cake with hardboiled eggs.” Possible? Yes. Deliciously practical? No. The subtle nuances of raw milk transfer into the cheese, adding depth of flavor indicative of the happy cows it came from. Cheese made with raw milk has an unmatched complexity, with a flavor experience that can vary with the changing seasons.

That being said - there are, of course, plenty of fantastic pasteurized cheeses out there. Even our own Dorset Minis are pasteurized, and those are, in our opinion (though we may be biased) quite delicious. But we love the certain “Je ne sais quoi,” the x-factor, that raw milk can bring to a cheese.

So - is it safe? Yes! We follow strict FDA guidelines regarding the production of raw milk cheese, including an aging process designed to eliminate any hazards. This allows you to experience a cheese that is completely safe and completely delicious.

How should I store your cheeses?

We highly recommend you keep our cheeses refrigerated if you don’t intend to eat them immediately. Harder cheeses will last longer, but you can expect a lifespan in the fridge of at least a couple of weeks. Freezing can be destructive to the cheese, so we recommend it only as a last resort or if you only plan to use the cheese in cooked dishes.

If you’re planning to store them for an extended period, we recommend a combination of wax paper and plastic wrap. If you’ve stored it for a long time, or stored it in its plastic wrap, we recommend “facing” the cheese before you eat it - gently scrape off the outermost layer of the paste of the cheese with a sharp knife to remove the part that has been exposed to oxygen.

How should I eat your cheeses?

However you’d like! One of the best parts of eating cheese is finding and experiencing new pairings. We have tasting notes for all of our cheeses, but we encourage you to pair it with whatever you’d like. If you’ve found an amazing pairing, let us know!

Before using in any manner, we highly recommend letting the cheese sit at room temperature for a least an hour until it’s come up to room temperature. This allows the cheese to soften and the flavor to reach its peak.

 Farm Questions

Are you open to the public for tastings/tours?

Due to the pandemic, we are not open for tastings or tours currently. Our self-serve farm store remains open to the public for all your cheese needs, and if the goats are out around back you’re welcome to swing by and say hello to them!
